I went on a retreat this past weekend and had a ball (as always). I managed to get the borders on a quilt done, made 4 Christmas stockings and made 6 sets of pj's for the kids.
Well, like all families this time of year, our days are just a whirl wind. I picked up the remaining few items I needed today. The worse part was the black ice that was apparently on the road. I had made a few stops and then dropped by my office to grab some gifts I had wrapped. When I headed down Watterson Trail toward Blankenbaker, I stepped on my brakes and just kept on going. I was literally standing on them. Very strange feeling indeed. But thank goodness I managed to stop before a truck headed through the intersection. I guess that explained why there was a police car and 3 other cars pulled over straight ahead. In the end we saw 3 more accidents before getting to I-64 and Blankenbaker. One of those had 9 cars in it. They were all on over passes. In the end my errands took longer just due to only driving 10 mph.
Simon had an orthodontist appointment to see what the upcoming plan will be. He is going to get his braces put on in February. They will only put 4 brackets on the front and bands on the back as anchors. Done is less than a year! They said it should set him up just fine without anything later. Wahoo!
We finally got back home and then headed to my mothers for dinner. This time the kids sat and ate their dinner with no whining about wanting to open presents. That is so hard for kids. I know that is how we were when we were little. I remember us begging to open just one present before Christmas. When we got older, we finally won that battle. We could open just one on Christmas Eve.
Both kids loved their new presents. Simon got a hot wheels race track thing and cars. Sydnee got a Polly Pocket race track which she loved as well. They also got a couple of games and a book. Sydnee kept telling Grandma that this was the best Christmas ever. Both of them were very excited.
Mike worked today and is going to again tomorrow, but gets off at 2pm. Just once I would like to have a complete family for a few days at Christmas. He was so tired and just wasn't much fun.
We usually go to my inlaws on Christmas Eve, but apparently they want to change it this year. I talked to my SIL and she first mentioned us coming at 2pm on Christmas Eve, but then later asked if we could come at 5 on Christmas. But that won't work. We always go to my Grandmothers Christmas on Christmas day. I don't want to change that. It's been that way for as long as I can remember. As long as she is living we will go with her plans. So at this point, I have no idea when we will go to the Koenig house.
