Now this is going too far

The kids and I were watching a movie and Sydnee turns around to see Smokey sitting in her doll stroller. I can't believe he stayed there long enough for me to go to the car, get my camera and get back in to take a picture. He was so cute.

Sydnee has been playing with her dolls daily for the past week. I am so excited. She is playing with both of them and acts like they are sisters. And we are finally seeing use of the stroller, car seat/carrier and playpen she has. I will have to give thanks to her teacher. I know that Ms Tiffany has her 9 mo son in the classroom with them. That is where Sydnee is getting the information, mannerisms, etc. When she started first grade, she told me that Cason (the teachers 4 mo old) was a distraction to her. But as time went on, she has gotten very used to him being there. Now she questions why he isn't there if he is sick or something. In all of this, she has learned how to feed a baby, talk with a baby, play with a baby, how to tell them no, no, etc. And I am seeing all of this when she is playing with her dolls. This is a great thing to see from a child that had no interest in playing with dolls, or anything remotely close to it. These things just didn't come naturally for her. It's something we take for granted. But it you aren't nurtured as a baby, how would you know what should be done. Of my two children, she is the one who didn't want to cuddle or anything. Even now she doesn't like to do that much at all.
The kids made out their valentines for tomorrows party at school. They are very excited. This was the first time they have been able to sign their cards quickly. I think they were done in about 20 minutes or so. It used to take us at least an hour and a half. And that was with questions like "Mom, how do I get all of my name on here?" Or the letters to their name were all over the place instead of lining up to spell their name. So there is more progress. We have the parent/teacher conference on Monday. I am looking forward to it. Simon has been doing well conduct wise over the last few weeks. So again that is progress.
This week I have been working on freezer foods again. I made up 10 meatloafs to freeze and bake later, 10# of mash potatoes to freeze in serving sizes, baked 2 chickens, and baked 7 chicken breasts. I kind of like doing this. Probably because then I know I will have an easier time when it comes to cooking dinner. Next I want to make up some casseroles. I used to pre-cook things and then freeze in serving sizes. But now I will make up the dish and then bake when we want it. It won't seem so much like left overs.
Today I worked on my new office all day. I put in some shelves in the closet, put some stuff on the built in book cases, shampooed carpet, cleaned walls and baseboards and the doors. The landloard took a look at the carpet and told me she is going to see about getting new carpet put in because she would be embarrassed to have anyone there with the way the last tenants left it. Cleaning it has helped, but there are tears in it too. I am looking forward to getting moved in.
Good night
