Breakfast with Santa

Today was "Breakfast with Santa" at school. The kids couldn't wait. I was supposed to help serve the breakfast for the kids. There are around 450 children this year. They had Santa and someone took a picture of each child sitting on his lap. Then the kids were taken to the "store" where they had a high school student help them to shop for their family members.

When they got in the car today after school both couldn't wait for each other to open their presents. They have been trying to talk me into letting them into opening just one gift. Sorry, gotta wait. Now I know why our parents went through when we used to do the same to them. Simon had gotten Sydnee a video "Ice Age" and me a pot holder. Sydnee got Simon a game "Mancala" and me some lotion. The funny thing is that Sydnee isn't a big movie watcher, so we know who Simon was thinking of when he got a movie.

I left after all of that was over so I could take Maggie and Smokey to the vet. We noticed both of them trying to scratch their ears and shaking their heads a lot. So it just didn't look right to me. Sure enough, both of them have a double ear infection. So there is medicine to help. The vet poured lots of a sudsy type cleaner in their ears to help break the crud loose. Both are sleeping well tonight and seem a little more comfortable.

Mike was home for dinner again tonight. I'm just not used to this "having dinner on the table" every night (and it's only been night 2). About the time I get used to it, he'll be back on nights. Both kids insisted Mike open their presents too. He got a screwdriver and a small fan to hold in your hand.

Simon was driving us nuts during dinner about watching Ice Age. Finally we were cleaned up and could watch it. I had set it next to the TV and he looked everywhere. After about 10 min of looking, Sydnee pops up and says "cat cage". Sure enough she sat and watched him go bonkers over this movie and she knew where it was the whole time. Sneaky girl!

It started sleeting today about 5 or so. I am curious to what we'll have in the morning. They are predicting 1-4" of slush, sleet, snow mix. So who knows. We just can't believe how early it seems to be. I like snow, but could do without the ice.

Hmmm school tomorrow? Or not?
