Hopeful Hearts Fundraiser

Last night was not only mine and Mike's 11th anniversary, but also the annual fundraising gala for Hopeful Hearts. We go every year to catch up with people we haven't seen all year and to see what the foundation has done in Ukraine over the previous year. Melissa Swan is always the MC of the event. We have someone playing music, singing, and of course a wonderful dinner. They always have something for us to take home as well. Previously it has been hand painted eggs, matrushka dolls, wooden boxes, etc. from Ukraine. This year it was tea. They had a bunch of different kinds you could choose from. Melissa Swan said if you aren't a tea drinker, you will be after tasting these teas. She has been on two of the mission trips.

The room always looks so nice after it's been decorated.

Tea bags and boxes for us to take home. There are also some eggs for those who had never gotten one.

We had a very nice time this year. I would have to say it has been the best yet. It always seems there is something that would catch a nerve for me before we even left the house, but this year, things went smoothly and we had a great time. One of the couples at our table was Simon's scout leaders the Drains and the others were the Turners. All of our children are from the same region. Although the Turner kids are from the same orphanage as Sydnee and Simon.

This is the quilt I made and donated this year. They have a silent auction to raise money.
