Last year in August we had gotten a kitten from a friend in Simpsonville. After losing all of our animals over the last few years due to old age, I had gone 6 mo without a pet. Considering I hadn't been petless since age 10, that was an odd feeling. Anyway, I brought home Maggie. She is a calico with an attitude.

In December I was in IN on a retreat when RJ called to see if I would help him out. He had a Siamese cat name Smokey who had been hit by a car while he was in Germany visiting his Mom. When he got back, he found out this had happened. He was finally able to find Smokey after hunting for days and then found out his leg was in bad shape. So it was decided to amputate. We now have Smokey with us. It's been nearly a year and he has needless to say become very comfortable here. The funny thing is that Mike has never been partial to animals sleeping in our beds, but Smokey has reminded him of a cat he was raised with for years. So Smokey has been allowed to do things that most of our pets haven't. But he is so loving and a real challenge to get to purr. Sometimes I think it is his way of getting rubbed longer.
He did very well. I was amazed at how quickly he started to walk around on just the 3 remaining legs. Of course having Maggie around to nag him I am sure helped. They fought like crazy. But after both went in to be declawed and Maggie spayed they because good friends. Just look at how close they are now.

This little one is a cat and her four kittens that we got from someone down the road. Last week I looked up just in time to see her leap onto the refrigerator and then on to the soffet of the cabinets.

Last year the Extrememe Makeover Home Edition was in town to work on a new home for a local family. This is Simon's favorite program on TV I think. We had visited the home site a couple of times and then later found out that they were going to do the "move that bus" later than anticipated due to the rainy weather. So we were able to go straight after school. Simon and Sydnee were thrilled to go. They got to help "Move that Bus!"
