In April my friend Shanna and I were having a dinner for new consultants we had (our CM consultants). For some reason an idea hit me during this dinner (as if my mind needed to be somewhere else) to see if Shanna would be interested in going to Gatlinburg during spring break (on Monday). We sat for a minute and the next thing you know we are planning our trip. At the last minute, we traded vans with my sister in law (she had a full size) and we packed up 7 children, Shanna (and her 7 mo pregnant self) and myself and headed to Gatlinburg on Momnday morning. Were we crazy? Some say yes. We weren't out of the county 5 minutes when we started hearing "how long until we get there". So we made sticker sheets to have them earn stickers for different things. And one of those things was to take a nap and to not ask how much longer. If they filled their card, they got ice cream when we got there. It worked for the most part. We visted the Dixie Stampede as soon as we got there (yes, we changed clothes in the restroom). We got there about 30 minutes before our tickets were timed for. The kids loved it. All of them.
Remember this was a last minute low budget trip. We crammed ourselves into one single hotel room. The kids were absolutely fine. The mothers on the other hand were glad we did it, but were ready to get back home. We did see the Ripley's Aquarium, Cades Cove looking for bears that we never saw, Ole McDonalds Farm Miniature Golf and some other things. Glad we did it, but will think twice next time. Maybe camping next time a little closer to home and where the kids have more space to RUN and be loud!A nice family shot. It's rare for me to be in photos myself. I am always the one taking them.
Simon was at the pulpit in Cades Cove at one of the churches. I have always said he is my little preacher boy because he has memorized so much scripture. He is very good at it. I think he knows nearly every story in the Bible.
