The New Bed

A friend of mine has given Sydnee a bed that she absolutely loves. Thanks so much Deanna. This bed is in wonderful condition too. Well Sydnee couldn't wait to go to bed last night. Not to mention she was still exhausted from Tuesdays testing in Cincinnati. I will go more on that part later. But she loves the bed and immediately asked Simon to spend the night with her. He was happy to do so. When he walked in the room, you could tell he was so ready to go to sleep. He rarely makes it past 8pm. The bottom part of the bed is a futon. I barely got a sheet on it before Simon was ready to put himself down. I put his quilt over the back part of the futon and formed a tent. He slept like that all night. He just thought that was funny.

It's funny how light this room looks. Actually it was pitch dark and I had a flash. Kids never knew it.

Yep, believe it or not Simon really is under that little tent.

Sydnee was out like a light. She was so excited.

Now about Cinci. Sydnee and I headed up for her appointment. We stopped on the way and got her hair cut. It's very short, but it matches up some from her homemade haircut. I know though that if I didn't get it cut, she would do it herself again because she wants short hair. The good part is that she loves it right now. And it is short, but it does look better. It will make it easier to match up over the next couple of months.
After we got to the hospital they took her right away which put us a little ahead of schedule. So they were able to take their time. She was starting to get nervous because she already knew she was getting an IV. But we were told that there is a difference between sedation and anesthesia. Hmmm, didn't know that. Sedation is getting an IV and going to sleep. Anesthesia is getting some bubblegum smelling gas while I hold her. When she drifts off, they take her back to put her IV in put her heart leads, O2 monitor and O2 on her and finish her testing, then when testing is done, they take her to recovery for a longer time. They take their time while a nurse sits by her side the entire time talking to me about whatever we want to talk about. This is wonderful! When she does wake up enough to drink, they give her some water. If she holds water and graham crackers down ok, then they remove her IV and let her sit up for a bit. And if all is well, she gets to get in the wheelchair while I warm the car up and I meet them at another door. They even gave her the little gas mask. Which she was thrilled to have.

Now do we know why my kids love Cinci??? Because they are always giving them toys. I don't mean little treasure box things. I mean dolls, books, stuffed animals, etc. There is a whole room of stuff in boxes that they have to give to kids. So her first nurse who did her initial vitals gave her a little princess doll. Then when she got in the car, she had another doll in her hand. So she got two. Not to mention the excitement of the nurse having a race with her right and left arm. He put on the blood pressure cuff on the right and the O2 monitor on the left. Sydnee got to say GO! And he pushed the button on the machine to see which reading came up first. He made it such a party.

This process was so much better. And one of her nurses from last time was there this time too. They said they had felt bad for Simon (who didn't go this time) because he was so worried about Sydnee last time because she cried when they put her IV in. But this time she was asleep and was so surprised when she got up and found they had already taken her pictures and done her IV.

Now we are just waiting on her test results. Probably later today.
