Genetics appointment
I forgot to write about our last trip to Cincinnati. We were there last Tuesday and Wednesday. First the kids saw Dr. Hopkins in Genetics. He confirmed the FAS. Simon has the low set ears, flat face, and double fold ears (also known as RR Track ears). Sydnee was identified with short eye openings (palpebral fissures), sunken nasal bridge, short nose, smoothing and elongation of the ridged area (the philtrum) between the nose and lips, and smooth, thin upper lip. microcephaly. He is running labs on both kids for chromosome tests (due to their extreme developmental delays) and on Simon for Fragile X Syndrome. We hope to hear something this week. Fragile X is the scary one to me. So far their IQ testing along with a mirid of other testing showed borderline mental retarded. I hate that. Sydnee's was across the board, but Simon had a high score in receptive learning, but extremly low in the other areas. But his average was still low. In other words I am very anxious to hear the results to see if they confirm or show something different. I'll write more about that later.
